I am Running for Governor of Kwara State Because Change Can't Wait - Abdul Ajia

Date: 2018-10-20

"So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable" Christopher Reeve

Having identified with the ruling APC, aligning myself with what the majority of Kwara opposition wants, I am shocked to discover that the APC is not any better than the PDP we left behind. And while some may insist that platforms does not matter, that candidates are the only ones that matter, I beg to disagree because you cannot build something on nothing.

When a political party orchestrate a sham direct primary election, you already know that such a political party does not have the interest of its rank and file as the centerpiece of its agenda. Add the brazen assault on democracy in the state of Osun and the ongoing assault on participative democracy in the great state of Kwara, it has become abundantly clear that we need a new platform, one untainted from the dark days of our past and one that I am sure can lead us on the path of sustainable development.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my privilege to announce to you my membership of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) and also to inform you that I was nominated on October 7, 2018 as the gubernatorial candidate of the ANRP in Kwara state, I have accepted the nomination because it is clear to me that the ANRP is a new wine, in a new bottle, for a new era.

My candidacy presents an opportunity for us to hit the reset button and have a Governor that will fight as hard for you as he would for his children because in the real sense, you all are my family and no one part of this family can feel whole if another part of it is suffering.

In my Kwara community, it is most likely that I will know the jobless graduate, the elderly pan handler, the single mother with kids trying to survive, and the middle aged man who is employed but his take home pay can't take him home. These are all of our families and because they are family, we have a responsibility to protect them, to fight for them and to put their interest side by side with ours.

I will like to charge each and every one of us to embrace this project- because it is our project. Please find ways to support this candidacy with funds, your time, your ideas and your expertise. The official declaration of my candidacy is scheduled for 11 am, November 17th, 2018 at the Circular Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara state. The unveiling of the Kwara Renaissance Document/Manifesto is scheduled for December 1, 2018 at a venue and time to be announced later. The unveiling of the Kwara Renaissance Document will be an opportunity for me to lay out my agenda for Kwara in front of the people of the state of harmony.

I recognize that the coming days and weeks will be tough going but I am hoping that I can count on all of you as I move forward in this race. May God bless the state of Kwara and May God bless the Republic of Nigeria
