Kwara Assembly make case for rainstorm's victims ....screens LG Auditor General tomorrow
The State House of Assembly took this decision, following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by a member representing Oke Ogun Constituency Barrister Kamaldeen Fagbemi on the inability of the Office of the Special Adviser on Emergency and Relief Services to implement the resolutions of the House in respect of the victims of the rainstorm.
Reading the resolutions of the House, the Deputy Speaker, Elder Mathew Okedare who presided over the Wednesday's sitting, said the call became expedient in order to alleviate the sufferings of those affected by the rainstorm.
The House equally mandated the Special Adviser to furnished the legislature on steps taken by his office in respect of the resolutions within one week.
Barrister Fagbemi had while raising the Matter of Urgent Public Importance informed the House that the office of the Special Adviser on Relief and Emergency Services was yet to visit the areas affected by rainstorm and provide palliatives as directed by the House two weeks ago.
Other members who spoke on the Matter expressed worry over the non implementation of its resolutions by the relevant government agency and enjoined the House to summon the Special Adviser for explaination.
Meanwhile, the House has resolved to screen the newly appointed Auditor-General of the State Local Government Audit Mrs Y E Olanrewaju tomorrow Thursday 6th of April, 2017.
This followed the reading of the Governor's letter, to the Speaker Dr. Ali Ahmad by the Deputy Speaker, Elder Mathew Okedare seeking the confirmation of the nominee, following the retirement of the former Auditor- General of the State Local Government Audit, Mr Kolo in March this year.
