Kwara Government to engage youths positively

Date: 2016-06-16

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its determination to create Multi-faceted avenues to engage the unemployed Youths positively.

The Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor on Youth Empowerment, Alhaji Zakariyau Babatunde gave the assurance on Wednesday while answering questions from VON correspondent.

Alhaji Babatunde noted that the State Government within the purview of the ruling All Progressives Congress agenda to create mass employment opportunities would not relent in tackling Youth restiveness by engaging them productively.

He said the Corps members under the suspended Kwara Bridge empowerment Scheme (KWABES) can also key into different programmes of the government particularly the N-power programme where mass employment opportunities would be created.

Alhaji Zakariyau Babatunde added that the KWABES programme was suspended to allow for a review and due to the financial challenges confronting the state.

The SSA gave the assurance that the backlog of stipends owed the Corps members of the scheme would be off-set as soon as the financial crisis is over and appealed to them to be patient with the government.

Alhaji Zakariyau Babatunde therefore called on the Youths in the State to register for the N-power programme and contact his office for details on the information communication Technology for change programme which he said is closing tomorrow.

He charged the Youths to always make judicious use of the windows of opportunities provided at the federal and state levels.
