Kwara begins Chief of Naval Staff U-14 campaign
Kwara U-14 team has been drawn in Group C alongside Enugu, Kaduna and Navy team for the 15th edition of the Chief of Naval Staff U-14 Boys Soccer Championship which kicked off in Abuja today.
Kwara team, made of players from Kwara Football Academy all scaled through screening yesterday, and are hopeful of making great impact in the championship. Group A has FCT, Ekiti, Bauchi and Plateau states, while Group B has Ondo, Benue, Oyo and Kogi states. Nasarawa will play from Group D with Delta, Osun and Edo states.
After yesterday's opening ceremony, hostilities will commence today in all the four groups at Old Parade Ground, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Camp and at the NFF Goal Project pitch.
Equally kicking off today is the 7th Naval Officers Wives Association Female U-17 Soccer championship. Kwara team is being led by Coach Paul Odey of Kwara Football Academy and Soni Ahamioje.
Chairman of Kwara YSFON, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola said that the team will do the state proud at the competition, even as he commended the state government and the management of Kwara Football Academy for their support to the team. He said that the team was carefully chosen after series of test matches, as a way of presenting a good team for the competition.
