Kwara Assembly Moves To Investigate Fuel Scarcity
The Kwara State House of Assembly has directed its committee on commerce, industries and women affairs to look into the causes of acute fuel scarcity in the state and proffer solution to the problem.
This was part of resolutions reached by the House following a matter of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Adena/Bani/Gweria constituency, Alh Ba'aziki Suleiman, on the persistent fuel scarcity in the state.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mathew Okedare, who presided over the sitting, said the fuel situation in the state was going out of hand and required urgent attention to nip the problem in the bud.
The Deputy Speaker equally mandated the Leader, the Deputy Leader and the Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon Hassan Oyeleke, Hajia Segilola Abdulkadir and Hon. Ebun Owolabi, respectively, to be part of the committee, to find a lasting solution to the problem.He asked the committee to invite the hierarchy of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), state ministry of commerce and cooperatives, the independent and major petroleum marketers and other stakeholder today and report its findings to the House on Tuesday.
Members had while contributing on the matter, identified causes of fuel scarcity in the state and urged the House to as a matter of urgency, wade into the problem in order to put an end to the untold hardship the crisis had inflicted on the residents.
The House equally mandated its committee on ethics, public petitions, privilege and judiciary to investigate the increasing armed robbery attacks in parts of the state capital with a view to stemming the tide of insecurity in Ilorin metropolis.
