Court remands 2 men in prison over alleged kidnapping
Magistrate Salihu Balogun of an Ilorin Magistrates' Court in Kwara, on Thursday ordered the remand of two suspects at the Okekura Prisons, Ilorin, over alleged kidnapping.
The suspects, Umar Mogaji (37), and Suleiman Bello (23), both of Power Line Fulani Camp, Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara, were arrested over the kidnapping of Isiaku Madaki on July 12, at Oro.
The accused persons were arraigned on a two-count charge of Criminal Conspiracy and kidnapping, contrary to Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Zacchaeus Folorunsho, told the court that the accused collected a ransom of N2.5 million from the family of the victim, before they were arrested by the Police.
He said the accused intruded into their camp with guns and cutlasses and started shooting sporadically.
The prosecutor, who objected to the bail of the accused, urged the court to remand them in prison custody, pending the determination of the case.
Magistrate Balogun agreed to the submission of the prosecutor and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Okekura Prisons, Ilorin.
He adjourned the case till Nov. 25, for mention. (NAN)
