Ahmed Explains Delay in Payment of Kwara Primary School Teachers', Council Workers' Salaries

Date: 2015-10-08

Kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed on Thursday attributed the delay in the payment of primary school teachers and local government councils workers to the non approval of the N5billion bailout meant for the payment  by the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) on time.

He however said that, the approval of the funds would soon be done by the CBN in a few weeks.

Speaking in Ilorin on Thursday during his monthly media chat, Ahmed however said  it was not his responsibility to pay the salaries of the affected teachers and workers but that it was rather the duty of the council chairmen in the state.

According to him,"Since the labour leaders approached me for the intervention on the payment of primary school teachers and council workers, I decided to raise a bailout of N5 billion for them through CBN and this is yet to be approved by the CBN.".
