Kwara Might Not Benefit Much From Bailout - Gov. Ahmed

Date: 2015-07-24

As the people of Kwara continue waiting for the bailout promised the states by the Federal Government, the State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has announced that Kwara might not benefit much from the anticipated bailout.

While featuring on his monthly media interactive called 'Governor Explains', he noted that the bailout is meant to help states with huge debts.

The states would have their repayment spread for longer periods in order for them to have funds for other projects instead of servicing debts alone.

He explained that since the debt of Kwara is not much, it would not be among the states to benefit much from the bailout, adding that discussion was still ongoing on the modalities to be used on how to help the states in that regard.

He denied the insinuation that funds would be released by the Federal Government for states to offset salaries, explaining that the debts being owed were only being restructured for longer periods by the Federal Government.
