SWAN Congratulates Saraki

Date: 2015-07-01

The Abuja chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated Senator Bukola Saraki on his emergence as the president of Nigeria’s eight Senate.

The body, through a statement released yesterday, expressed happiness with his emergence and commended him for playing a tremendous role in the development of sport in Nigeria, as the owner of Nigeria National League (NNL) side Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin.

"It is our belief that his emergence as the President of Senate will ginger a far-reaching impact on the development of sports in Nigeria, especially under the new administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC)," a statement released by the sports-writers said.

The body while assuring the Senate president of their support and to work with him, urged him to appoint Senators who have passion for sports into the Senate Committee on sports.

"SWAN promises to work with him in whatever capacity, while we sincerely wish him a very successful tenure. It’s also our prayer that God grants him the wisdom to lead the legislature.

"We plead with the senate president to consider appointing persons with serious compassion for sports as members of the Senate Committee on Sports," the statement said.
