APC group warns PDP against interference with party's affairs

Date: 2015-06-24

A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups have asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to steer clear of the affairs of the APC, saying Nigerians are watching their moves.

A statement by chairman of the coalition, Ambassador Lawal Mohammed Munir yesterday, said the PDP is a party rejected by Nigerians in the recently conducted general elections because of "mis-governance" and should take caution. "What we want is a peaceful atmosphere for Mr. President to continue the good work he has started. This is not the time to look for scapegoat to justify what happened during the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly.

"Therefore, any group or individuals within or outside the party that wants to come through the backdoor; PDP, the party that Nigerians rejected because of mis-governance and corruption should know that Nigerians are watching.

"We must realize that impunity and lawlessness can only breed societal instability which can undermine the basis for our progressive democratic struggle. Our party struggled from the ashes of democratic chaos that characterized the emergence of the leaders of the 8th National Assembly. It is becoming clearer to all that some of our politicians are refusing to believe in the reality of history," he said.

The statement said disagreements are not unexpected but that they are universally accepted part of any democratic process where two or more groups with divergent views and ideologies exist.
