Gov Ahmed to inject new blood into his cabinet
Many of the members of the Kwara State executive council including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants might not make the list in the second term of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The governor in his remarks at his lodge, Government House, Ilorin, while receiving political appointees led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold who were on a congratulatory visit to him on his victory at the polls, spoke of his intention to inject new blood into the system to further enhance service delivery and fast track deliverance of democratic dividends.
The governor who submitted that the job before him was daunting, maintained that the process of appointing anyone into his cabinet would be 'all-inclusive'.
According to him, "more rooms will be created for people to serve. And the right people will be placed in right places to drive the system accordingly. This project is for all of us and we are going to operate an open door policy like before. There is going to be room for constructive criticism.
"The responsibility ahead is daunting and not going to be easy because of the economic downturn. So, we are going to hit ground and run. We must be able to demonstrate how we will continue in 2019.
"We must be able to record unprecedented achievements through creation of a virile civil service among others.
"We will ensure that area of complacency is removed from whatever we do and equally articulate our policies and programmes for everyone to understand".
He also promised to strive hard to make the state a reference point of positive change by championing the cause of rejuvenation and setting pace for others to follow.
He also expressed gratitude to all his aides for their hard work and perseverance in the last three and half years, promising to compensate them accordingly.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold had congratulated Governor Ahmed on the hard-won victory at the poll and promised that political appointees would continue to deliver on the mandate given to them by the government.
It would be recalled that the APC leader in the state, Senator Bukola Saraki had during his congratulatory visit to the governor at his lodge on announcement of his victory by INEC on Sunday, jokingly said political appointees had to re-apply.
Other groups that visited the governor included Ifelodun Local Government, APC elders Forum, Kwara North, APC elders Forum and the Forum of General Managers among others.
