Multi-million naira Aircraft Maintenance Hanger of the Nigerian Air Force takes off soon
The new Commander, 227 Wing, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Ilorin , Air Commodore Peter Gbujie, disclosed this cheering news Tuesday, when he led a delegation of Air Force Officers on a courtesy call to Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State in his office at the Government House, Ilorin .
The new Air Force Commander, who resumed duty in the State about a month ago, told the Governor that the 227 NAF wing had given all necessary support to ensure the commencement of the hanger project.
Air Commodore Gbujie thanked Dr. Saraki for his unalloyed support to the 227 NAF wing, which he said, now has an array of activities after the wing came out strong from comatose some years back.
He explained that the wing was undergoing expansion with functional aircrafts to enhance smooth operation and urged the state Government to patronize its services.
The Air Force boss, who also expressed appreciation to the people for being supportive to NAF activities, disclosed that the completion of the hanger project would complement the International Aviation College scheduled to take off soon.
As a result of the increasing activities of NAF in the State, he said more officers and men have been posted to the unit to enhance its operational performance.
Air Commodore Gbujie, however, solicited the assistance of the State Government in the provision of residential accommodation for the Commander, befitting Officers’ Mess, a security patrol vehicle, a 33 KVA transformer at the wing’s barracks and tarring of the road leading to the NAF barracks.
Responding, the State Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki assured the commander of government continuous support and cooperation to enhance the operation of the unit.
Dr Saraki expressed delight that the hanger project will take off soon and completed in a record time.
He told the Air Force Commander that the first set of students of the International Aviation College would resume in September, pointing out that it will increase the tempo of aviation activities in the State Capital.
Governor Saraki, who assured Air Commodore Gbujie on the requests put before him, disclosed the willingness of his administration to collaborate with NAF in the State to further increase its activities especially at the Ilorin International Airport .
