Thank you Kwarans for your support - Mike Omotosho

ADDRESS BY DR MIKE OMOTOSHO, THE GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE OF THE LABOUR PARTY IN THE JUST CONCLUDED ELECTION ON THE OCCASION OF THE PRESS BRIEFING TO ADDRESS THE GOOD PEOPLE OF KWARA STATE. MONDAY 13th April 2015.

Fellow Kwarans, the recently conducted Governorship and House of Assembly elections in our state has come and gone, we will like to appreciate every one who believed in the vision and the thrust of our campaign.

We went round the entire length and breath of our state, inspiring and motivating our people in the course of our sojourn, our message of liberation, which centered on all round prosperity for our people and a commitment to good governance was well received.

We saw the plight of the elderly, our youths and our children and we designed programs we knew would bring succor to our people.

Everywhere we went, we were welcomed, we built trust and rekindled hope in our people. They showed a resolve to be liberated and this was the tonic we needed to continue the push to rebuild a liberated Kwara.

In spite of been maligned and insulted that we had stepped down, we kept our head high and ran the race to the very end.

We did not and still do not want to have a mandate that was induced with temporary gain because we believe in a democracy that is freely sort and freely given.

We can proudly raise our heads and say we never bought a single vote in this election. Every vote cast for us despite the challenges will be cherished as evidence of liberated minds.

Sadly, the medium through which we contracted party agents to monitor the polls was compromised just before the election which led to the absence of our agents at most of the polling units. Consequently, we would like our people to know that the allotted number of votes is not a true reflection of our strength and acceptance.

Nonetheless, we are indeed grateful to God for a peaceful election and thankful for the opportunity to change the way campaigns are done in Kwara State.

We would like to congratulate Gov Abdulfatah Ahmed on his announced victory and to implore him to raise the standard and build a Kwara that will be worth leaving as a legacy for our future generations in the fear of God and service to humanity with dignity and distinction.

Fellow Kwarans, on behalf of the Labour Party, I want to thank everyone who has contributed in every way, our campaign team, supporters and especially my immediate family who gladly bore the brunt of this exercise. Thank you very much and may God bless our state.

Dr. Mike Omotosho
