INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kwara State, Dr. Emmanuel Onucheyo, has appealed to youths to shun violence and resist any act that may cause disaffection during the coming general elections.

The REC made the call on Tuesday in Ilorin during a meeting he had with various youth groups in the state, ahead of the February 14 Presidential, National and State assembly elections.

Onucheyo was represented at the occasion by the commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Jacob Ayanda.

The REC informed the youth that politicians would always capitalize on their vulnerability and use them to foment trouble before, during and after the elections.

“I advise you as leaders of tomorrow not to allow any unscrupulous politician to use you as thugs or as agents to cause trouble during the elections,” Onucheyo added.

The REC appealed to them not to destroy their tomorrow by the actions of some politicians today.
