Educationist identifies being partisan as part of challenges facing Pen profession
Journalists have been advised to avoid being partisan to ensure objectivity in their reportage. A Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, Dr. Adesina Azeez gave the advice in Ibadan, Oyo State capital; Southwest Nigeria at a day workshop on ways to ensure the safety of Journalists in Nigeria.
Dr. Azeez identified political alliance and partisanship of media owners as some of the problems facing Journalism Profession. He appeals to Journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession to reduce the hazards associated with the job.
Another speaker who is from the Kwara State University, Dr. Muyiwa Popoola observes that management of information, especially during conflict is crucial to the safety of Journalists.
The Facilitator, who is UNESCO National Programmes, Officer on Communication and Information in Nigeria, Mrs. Julie Osagie said the workshop would help media professionals in the coverage of next month election. Journalists across Southwest Nigeria attended the workshop.
