DPR shuts 10 filling stations in Kwara

Date: 2015-01-21

Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has shut down 10 filling stations in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, for alleged refusal to sell fuel at the new rate of N87 per litre.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government had directed all oil marketers to comply with the new price regime following persistent fall in crude oil price in the global market.

The Operation Controller of the state DPR, Amos Jokodola, who led members of the enforcement team during the monitoring of petrol stations in the state capital, on Tuesday, said the stations that were sealed included major and independent marketers.

The DPR boss, who vowed that the affected stations would remain closed until they were ready to revert to the new pump price, said they should lodge formal complaints to either PPMC or depot where they lifted the product if they have economic issues with stock.

He also said that the agency was not only enforcing the new price but also the quantity of fuel sold to members of the public.
