Gov Ahmed presents 2015 Appropriation Bill today
Members of the Kwara State executive council nursing political ambition might bow out any moment from now to pursue their ambitions, just as the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed will today present the 2015 appropriation bill at the State House of Assembly.
These were parts of resolution taken at the State Executive Council meeting held at the Council chamber and presided over by the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The Senior Special Assistant, Media to the governor, Dr Muhideen Akorede who briefed newsmen on the outcome of the meeting at the Government House, Ilorin, yesterday, said though the council noted the fact that some of its members won tickets during the APC primaries at all levels and deferred comments on it until those members formerly indicated their preparedness to leave the council to pursue their political ambitions in line with the provision of the law.
He told newsmen that the council also approved the proposed appropriation for the 2015 budget as presented by the Commissioner for Economic Development and Planning, Mr Bode Ogunleye.
He added that the Commissioner also commended the state government for the budget performance recorded despite the harsh financial situation under which the government operated in the on-going year.
Akorede further said the commissioner therefore, recommended that the governor should present the 2015 appropriation bill today which the council adopted.
The council according to the governor’s aide also approved the establishment of the Kwara State Agency for Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises.
The agency, he said was to manage all the fund to be provided by the state government now and in the future and to also provide capacity for beneficiaries of the various government's empowerment schemes.
According to Akorede: "Kwara State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Bank of Nigeria on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 to access sum of N2billion Micro and Small Medium Enterprises Development Fund by the CBN.
"Sequel to that development, the need for the establishment of an agency to serve as a special purpose vehicle for the effective participation of the state in the programme becomes imperative."
