Date: 2014-10-30

More than 2000 residents, including widows from various parts of Kwara state were rendered homeless by flood that occurred in different parts of the state in September.

The Special Adviser to Kwara state Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed on Emergency and Relief, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Ibrahim, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin recently.

He said that the flood also damaged more than 500 houses in the three senatorial districts of the state.

Ibrahim said the list of affected flood victims had been submitted to the governor to provide assistance.

The special adviser, who did not disclose the amount each victim would get, expressed optimism that the governor would approve reasonable amount for them.

He urged the victims to exercise patience with the state government as it was making efforts to put smiles on their faces.

He said government would assist owners of the 500 houses that were damaged by the flood.

Ibrahim warned residents of the state to stop dumping refuse in drainages, especially at night to guide against reoccurrence. (NAN)
