The gubernatorial ambition of a PDP Chieftain and former governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mr Dele Belgore SAN suffered a major setback as his supporters under the aegis of Mohammed Dele Belgore (MDB) Solidarity Team defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday in Kwara State.

The over 2,000 youths under the aegis of Mohammed Dele Belgore (MDB) Solidarity Team who are majorly from Ilorin West local government hinged their defection on leadership crises, misappropriation of party funds by PDP State Executives and inaccessibility to Mr Dele Belgore.

The leader of the group, Mr Moshood Abdulsalam who hails from Ajikobi Ward in Ilorin West local government said, "our defection is in the best interest of Kwara State. The PDP has been destroyed by corrupt State Excos and the leadership tussle in my local government has left the party in disarray".

Mr Moshood also accused Mr Dele Belgore of inaccessibility and lackadaisical attitude towards his supporters' plight.

The group submitted their PDP membership cards to the leadership of APC in Ilorin West LG led by Alhaji S.B Olarewaju.

The group lauded the enviable achievement of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on youth employment and empowerment in Kwara State.

The group also saluted the former governor of Kwara State, Senator Senator Bukola Saraki, for providing a purposeful leadership for the APC and pledged to work with him for the development of Kwara State.
