Bursary: 'Kwara Poly Students Get N50m'
The Kwara state government has released the sum of N50 million for the payment of bursary to 11, 000 indigenous students of Kwara state polytechnic, Ilorin.
This was announced by the secretary of the state Scholarship Board, Alh. Zakari Mohammed.
This development came just as the students of the institution elected new leaders of their union.
The election witnessed the emergence of Abdulrahman Muhammed of Marketing Department as the President, Salaudeen Taiwo Hassan of Mass communication Department as vice president, Abdulrahman Saliu of Estate Management as Speaker, Ibrahim Idayat as Treasurer, Ajiboye Samuel as General Secretary, Abdulrahman Sambo as Assistant General Secretary, Olayinka Afeez as Social Director 1.
The Rector of the institution,Alhaji Mas`ud Elelu,described the election as free and fair .
The Scholarship board scribe disclosed that more fund would be released by the state government for payment of bursary to another set of 4, 000 students of the institution before the end of the current academic session.
"The state government has released this sum for payment of the students’ bursary and we have commenced payment but had to stop due to the ongoing examination in the institution.
