Journalists Deserve Better Working Conditions, Says Don

Date: 2013-03-26

The Provost, College of Information Communication Technology Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Innocent Okoye, has advocated better working condition for journalists in the country to enhance their productivity.

Okoye, made the call on Monday.

He said Nigerian journalists play vital roles in the socio-economic and political development of the country, adding that they deserve better treatment.

He identified poor remuneration, lack of health insurance and insurance cover for accidental death as major problems confronting journalists in the country.

"Considering the hazardous nature of their job and the long hours they spend on duty, there is need for media owners to ensure that journalists are well remunerated,’’ Okoye said.
