Long Queues resurfaces as Fuel Scarcity Hits Hard in Fuel Stations

Date: 2024-04-28

According to a news report from DAILY POST, the lingering fuel crisis across Nigeria is now biting harder in various fuel stations. Only a few stations are selling petrol to motorists, imposing arbitrary fuel pump prices.

Major marketers charge between N625 and N650 per litre, while other marketers price petrol at N750, N800, and even N1,000, depending on the location. Customers outside the state capital are also feeling the pinch, as pump prices reportedly soar to N1,000 and above.

As a consequence, commercial transporters have raised their fares due to the abrupt increase in petrol prices. Short distances that previously cost between N100 and N150 within the state capital now demand N200 and more.

Efforts by DAILY POST to reach officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) were unsuccessful at the time of this report. Meanwhile, a station manager revealed that there is a shortage of supply from the NNPCL, the sole importer of the product. He said they were awaiting Dangote Refinery to begin distribution of petrol soon.

As a result, long queues of vehicles have resurfaced at fuel stations
