Stop the killings in Nigeria, FG told

...as Darul Kitab graduates 968 students The Founder of Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies , Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin, Dr AbdulKadir Oba-Solagberu has called on the Federal Government to do everything possible to stop the killings of innocent Nigerians in some part of this country.

Dr Oba-Solagberu made the call in Ilorin yesterday while speaking at this year's edition of the graduation ceremony of the school.

No fewer than 968 students graduated in this year's edition of graduation ceremony and the graduands cut across, primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 levels.

The Proprietor stressed the need for government at all levels to urgently declare zero tolerance for ignorance and immorality among youths in order to fast track nation building and curb incessant restiveness.

This, he said was so pertinent due to the persisting insecurity bedevilling the peace and harmony of Nigeria.

He said although, the federal government and respective state governments were trying their best but more could still be done to further drive home their strides.

Dr Dr Oba-Solagberu who is the Chairman, Kwara State Arabic Education Board noted imbibing genuine Arabic and Islamic orientation and culture among youths would reduce thuggery , cultism among other social vices in our society.

"This is because Almighty Allah has sent down the Holy Quran to be a guide for every mankind towards living a fulfilled life worthy of emulation. "It is also very expedient for parents to endeavour to keep a close watch on their children and wards as a way of complementing government's efforts as well as supporting security agencies in combating crimes and criminality in our society", he submitted.

In his remark, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari appreciated God for the proprietor and students of school as the school was growing from strength to strength. Represented by the Balogun Agba of Ilorin, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammed, the emir urged the graduating students to continue to be good ambassadors of the school.

The Provost of the school, Dr Faosy Fasazy said no fewer than 968 students graduated in this year's edition of graduation ceremony.

He said the graduands cut across, primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 levels.

He added that the graduating students could compete favourably with their counterparts any where in the world because they have been well equipped with qualitative Islamic education.

The Imam Imole of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulhamid charged the graduating students not to relent in their studies for them to grow up as responsible citizens who would contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

He called on the Federal Government to do everything possible to stop killings in the country and arrest the perpetrators of heinous acts.

He said if the perpetrators were arrested and dealt with according to the law, it would go a long way in stemming the rising waves of killing of innocent lives.

The Muslim leader also advised parents to give sound moral and Islamic education to their children, attributing the problem of killing of innocent people in the name of religion to lack of proper understanding of Islam.
